The Karabiner 98k is the logical outgrowth of the Gewhr 98 rifle developed by Mauser. Slightly shorter, the Kar98k retains the same reliability and accuracy of the Gewhr 98. All of the major militaries in the German Union have been updating their infantry units to the Kar98k, although some support units and militias are still armed with the Gewhr 98.
